Bloom & Bare

A midlife Rite of Passage in Photographs

My midlife transformation hit slowly and quietly: familial and career roles stopped fitting, and my body began to assert its age. Bloom & Bare is my attempt to find out what lies underneath all of that, using the tools I trust most: my body, the landscape, and the camera.

In Hebrew, lehitpashet means both to get naked and to simplify. I took it literally. Inspired by ancient rites of retreating into nature at times of change, I started walking alone into forests, beaches, and creeks — purposeless, by design. The camera was the only structure I brought.

What would emerge if a man tried to meet himself as simply a man in the world — vulnerable, aging, still very much alive? What might a more honest way of being in one's own skin actually feel like?
